This past November I was contacted about photographing this beautiful couple’s Allerton Park wedding, and I met with Sam and Jerrod to discuss details 4 days (!!!) before going into labor with baby number two! Jerrod farms for a living and had been pulling some pretty long days, so they contacted me the day we were supposed to meet to ask about moving the date back a bit. I just had this feeling that we should keep the date as it was, and I’m so glad we did—those mamma instincts, I tell ya!
Their engagement session was filled with joy, cuddles, loads of laughter, a swarm of mayflies (not pictured, but believe me, they were intense!), and a surprise appearance from the sweetest, timid little turtle!
Only three photos in, and I already can’t handle all the sweetness. 🙂

I think from now on when couples ask for engagement session wardrobe advice, I’ll probably just say “flowy dresses, flowy dresses, flowy dresses. 😉
Best thing about stumbling across this little guy during an engagement session? Turtles are so slooooow, that getting a ring shot on his back was almost too easy!

It was super windy, but I love the movement it created in Sam’s hair.
This was my first time shooting along the Illinois river, and these two nailed it! I foresee more water sessions in my future…
